Diddy Recorded Track With Joaquin Phoenix

While most fans don't know what to think, it appears that screen star Joaquin Phoenix's rap career might be the real deal. The Oscar-nominated actor recently received a major co-sign by music mogul Diddy, who claims to have produced a song for his album.

"Joaquin's for real," Diddy told MTV. "Joaquin's for real."

Though many have claimed that the actor's attempt at a rap career is a 'Borat'-style hoax, a documentary about it has been shot by brother-in-law Casey Affleck, which has been shopped around to various distributors, with mixed results.

William Morris Endeavor Entertainment screened the film and critics reported that audiences were left very confused by the Andy Kaufman-esque subject matter.

"Several buyers said the film overflowed with Hollywood debauchery, including more male frontal nudity than you'd find in some gay porn films and a stomach-turning sequence in which someone feuding with Phoenix defecates on the actor while he's asleep," wrote the Los Angeles Times.

Meanwhile, Diddy maintains that Phoenix is 100 percent serious about his hip-hop career. "If he's not for real, he tricked me," he said. "We went into the studio, did a record, mixed a record and everything."
