Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest Join Rock the Bells Lineup

The Boombox ran into Guerilla Union head Chang Weisberg this weekend in Los Angeles and he promised a "stupid" announcement this week for Rock the Bells, the traveling hip-hip music festival that promises classic hip-hop albums in their entirety from its lineup this year. Damn, did he deliver.

Joining the Wu-Tang Clan performing 'Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers' and the other previously announced headliners for RTB this summer is first time RTB performer Snoop Dogg, performing 'Doggy Style,' with special guests Warren G., Tha Dogg Pound, Lady of Rage and RBX, A Tribe Called Quest doing 'Midnight Marauders' in its entirety, and DJ Premier doing a tribute to his Gang Starr partner, the late Guru. Lauryn Hill will be a special guest for RTB stops in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington D.C. She, as of press time, is not scheduled for the San Francisco date.

The appearance of Hill, the ex-Fugees singer who has been an enigma since taking over mainstream pop with her 'Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' album, adds a great deal of the event factor to the festival, similar to Rage Against the Machine's appearance at RTB in 2007. Her sporadic and often controversial appearances in public have made her a lightning rod for curiosity and when it was rumored the singer would join the RTB lineup the blogsphere blew up with reports and interest.

But for true hip-hop fans the show will be about much more than Hill, as the chance to see Wu-Tang and Tribe perform full albums from start to finish, not to mention Snoop, make this not just one of the biggest hip-hop tours of the year, but a rival in talent for any traveling package out in 2010.

8/21: NOS Events Center, Los Angeles, Calif.
8/22: Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, Calif.
8/28: Governer's Island, New York City, N.Y.
8/29: Merriweather Post Pavilion, Washington D.C.

Wow. People are under the impression it's not racist to claim that a certain color of person needs more help? How uninformed. Look up the definition of racism, it talks about believing that an ethnic group deserves/needs preferential treatment. Tell me again about anyone who classifies themselves as a black activist isn't racist! The shoe fits on the other foot too the only difference is that no one is disillusioned about white vs. others racism. In our modern society the real problem is reverse racism. Claiming that a group of people should get more or better anything than anyone else is in fact racist. People should stop focusing on the color of their skin, and blaming all their problems on it or attributing someone's success to it. We're all Americans right? And anyway if America is so racist how did Obama get elected when statistically only 20-30% of black Americans even vote?

Summerfield: omg that rumor was debunked back in 99 let alone in '07 by SNOPES.

1) thats all nice but.. i WATCHED the interview where she made these sattements..

2) just what the hell makes Snopes the be all end all of rumors and such??? why is their info any more reliable than any other source??

BTW, I am a part of NO such organizations that you speak of. I only speak for MYSELF (and i'm sure many others) through my encounters with blacks...and I notice that the majority are BIGGER racists than many of the groups you speak of. Thats kinda like the pot calling the kettle black lol. REMOVE the stone from YOUR own eye, so that you may better see to remove the stone from others eyes.

I'm white and I'm proud!!! Only it seems I have a bit more to be proud of. If you're through integrating then why don't you join the "back to africa" movement that was started by one of you guys. Supposedly all of the blacks are going to go back and build that country up greater than this one. I'd like to see that. We gave you everything you have today...including a raised intelligence, but it is still quite lacking.

Okay, now here I go...I don't have disdain for any group of people (except pedophiles, rapists, drug dealers and the like), I can honestly say that. I am not angry at today's Whites for what my ancestors went through...but I refuse to forget. In my opinion, it would be a disgrace to do so. They went through so much! I will not hold today's Whites accountable for it, but I will not forget.
