Kanye West hasn't graced an award show stage since his fateful Taylor Swift incident at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, but he's finally ready to make his return to live award events. The Chicago emcee has been tapped to perform at the 2010 BET Awards -- his first award show appearance since September 2009 and first TV performance since he joined Rihanna and Jay-Z on 'The Jay Leno Show' the day after the VMA's.The BET Awards, slated to air live on the network on June 27 at
John Legend has already been chosen as the recipient of this year's Humanitarian Award, given to celebrity philanthropists who donate their money and time to a charitable cause. Past honorees include Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, Quincy Jones, actor Don Cheadle and more.
Kanye has been gradually stepping back into the spotlight since his self-imposed exile last year, having recently released his new single 'Power' to the Internet last week. The song is assumed to be a street single from his upcoming fifth album 'Good Ass Job', which reportedly features production from Pete Rock, Q-Tip, RZA, DJ Premier, No I.D. and more. The album is expected to hit stores in September.
