Kelis Continues Battle With PETA, Says She's the 'Biggest Carnivore'

As PETA continues to lash out at Kelis and her fur-wearing style, the electro-pop singer has kept fighting back and wants the final word on the matter. After writing an open letter in January where she proclaimed she would always wear fur, PETA has consistently made statements criticizing her outfits and the singer is sick of it. To Kelis, it's a privacy issue and she just wants everyone to leave her alone.

"I've always worn fur," she told gossip blogger Perez Hilton in a video interview. "I've never had a issue with it. PETA mentioned a few things, I ignored it. They sent me a nasty letter, I'm like, what, are you serious? Leave me alone basically."

Yet for someone wanting privacy, Kelis knows how to throw some sharp words in the direction of PETA and sensitive vegetarians everywhere. Adding to her January accusation that PETA euthanizes animals and is trying to save a "dang chipmunk," she has called herself a "carnivore" and reiterated that everyone has the right to make their own personal choices as long as they are legal.

"I'm like the biggest carnivore," she continued. "I eat a plate of meat. I don't need anything else. I enjoy it that much. I believe in live and let live."

Hi Bronxharp!

Susie, you're an idiot. You obviously have no idea that there are whole races of northern peoples, including tribes near the artic circle, where there yacant grow brocllolli, aalhoa spruots, tofu and cantelpes, etc., and they subsit on MEAT for survival. And they are not prehistoric. They are current.

And you seem to have so much compassion for these animals that were killed for human consumption... how about the animals that the animals eat? What about their feelings? LOL. There has never been any proof that animals other than primates have "feelings" other than those associated with the instinct for survival. Boo hooo hoo

Times have changed since our prehistoric ancestors were hunter-gatherers. It is no longer based on survival that humans eat meat; not when it's so readily available, pre-packaged, shrink wrapped & canned for your convenience. It is absolutely horrendous the way these living things are treated simply because.. why?.. "it tastes good" ??
Such people are so caught up in themselves. They never have stopped & really thought & pictured in their minds just what possible feelings would be going through an animal having its throat slashed, bowels removed= hung upside down to drain it of all its blood= living his last hours wondering why the fuck this has been his demise and been able to relate it to feelings they would have in said situation.
I've known some people to turn the other cheek - out of sight out of mind type of thing. I think they have the capacity to change but really don't have the will-power. They have that 'since everybody else is doing it what's so bad about it' mentality.
Other people can never acquire what is needed to have the sense of compassion for others, including other humans during times of disaster.

I guess what I wanna say is that this world we live on is fucked at the moment, primarily because of us humans. We don't need all this shit that we think we need to survive. A whole hell of a lot of people really need a wake up call= stop being so damn selfish! I praise the people who do good work & who are educated enough to accomplish it. Though they are very few and far between, the times are certainly changing= for the better.
I don't know..perhaps the meek will inherit the earth. I just hope that between now & the time the sun explodes, destroying all of Earth's creatures, there will be some sort of understanding that we're in this together. And.. also note how very vast the universe is & that we are not the end-all-be-all. Just make it good for yourself& for everyone else while we (the thinking ape) have the power to do so.

I eat meat Ive hunted I wear leather and fur and so has mankind for thousands of years. Being a vegan and an animal rights activist does not make you more humane . Look at Adoph Hitler he was a vegetarian. Consider that PETA!

What an Eddie. "Live and Let Live"? What a great choice of words. Maybe all that meat is damaging her brain while it clogs her arteries and fills her tissue and organs with hormones and chemicals. We don't have the right to kill other creatures for their skin. The fact that it is often done under extremely cruel conditions makes the practice even more horrific.

Um, Live and let live? Doesn't seem like she's letting anything get the chance to live! I'm so sick of ignorant, self-absorbed people who won't even take the time to see where the things that they eat and wear come from. I am a vegetarian and have been for 13 years, but I don't agree with many of the things PETA does. Still, it seems like she could save herself a ton of trouble if she maybe said she'd at least LOOK into why people are so adamant about not wearing fur. But, like I said before, ignorant, self-absorbed people....

AS FOR PETA:

THIS IS AMERICA. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO WEAR WHATEVER U WANT. PETA IS BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE. THEY NEED TO BE CONCERN ON THE ECONOMY. LEAVE KELIS ALONE, AND LET HER WEAR WHAT SHE WANT.

Hola

she is just another black that got fame and because of their ignorance they feel power by wearing fur . this makes them feel some respect?

So Mister, how famous are you? BECAUSE THIS IS ONE IGNORANT REMARK!

Hola

PETA is the most hypocritical group I have ever seen. They claim to love animals and yet euthanized over 2000 so as to have enough funds for publicity. While I don't agree with fur nor will I wear it. I will not send one red cent to a group whose motto is "Do as I say,not as I do"!
