Dr. Dre Speaks Out on Unfinished 'Under Pressure' Leak

Yesterday, the Internet went into overdrive when Dr. Dre's Jay-Z-assisted 'Under Pressure,' presumed to be the lead single off his elusive 'Detox,' leaked. The former N.W.A. member took to his blog to address the unauthorized release of the track, which, based on the song's short duration and incomplete sound, was confirmed to be unfinished.

"I want to set the record straight for everybody who's been waiting to hear my music," he wrote. "The song that's on the Internet is an incomplete song that I'm still working on. When it's ready, you'll be hearing it from me."

'Under Pressure,' which features production from Scott Storch, was first announced by Dre during an interview back in April, when he stated that the track would be released two weeks later. It's a similar story for 'Detox,' which has been a work-in-progress for more than half a decade. The emcee/producer has become notorious for teasing the hip-hop community with release dates, Rather than release what has already been recorded, he chooses to continue working on the album

Dre has worked with an extended roster of producers and emcees for the project, having put in studio time with beatsmiths like DJ Khalil, RZA, Boi1da, Hi-Tek and Nottz as well as emcees like T.I., Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Lady Gaga, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne and more. The album is currently slated for release at some point during 2011.

In the meantime, Dre will be honored for his contributions to music during the 23rd annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, where he will be honored with the ASCAP Founders Award, given to songwriters and composers who have had an inspiring effect on the music community. The award show is set to take place June 25.
