Houston DJ Fired for Playing Trae Tha Truth Song
Houston radio personality DJ Brandi Garcia has allegedly been fired from KBXX 97.9 The Box for playing a song by local rapper Trae tha Truth. The radio station has been involved in a public feud with the rapper, banning his songs from airplay after he got into an on-air dispute with one of their DJ's, who blamed Trae for a shooting that occurred at his annual Trae Day concert in 2009.
Brandi Garcia had been with KBXX for five years before she was let go, after playing a remix of Waka Flocka's 'O Let's Do It,' which featured a verse by Trae, during a concert at the Arena Theater.
"It's been an incredibly difficult time," Garcia said. "I was hired by a private promoter to DJ the 50 Cent event, it was not a Box event. There were no station logos on the flyers, it was something I was doing in my spare time as a DJ."
Garcia continued to say that when she went in to work the next day, she was immediately let go for playing the song. "It may be legal, but it's unethical," she contends. "It's a shame this has gotten this far, that a personal problem can effect somebody's career that they have worked so hard for, for fourteen years. But don't think for one minute I am out of the game."
Trae has filed a lawsuit against a local radio station, claiming that the ban is damaging his career and the career of others that he works with. "I would not have filed a lawsuit, but when other people started being hurt by this ban, I knew I had to stand up," Trae said in a statement. "I just could not let any more people suffer and be punished by the radio station over this ridiculous vendetta."
Brandi Garcia is currently working on a local television show, 'The Spotlight with Brandi Garcia,' which is set to debut this summer. Trae's annual Trae Day returns on July 22, featuring performances by Lupe Fiasco, Waka Flocka, DJ Khaled and many more.

I'm sorry man, that's harsh when they do something like that. I hope that you find success. What has dj khaled been up to these days? I haven't heard much from him. http://www.TaylorEntertainment.net
