With the storied downfall of Suge Knight, subsequent bankruptcy, an acquisition by WIDEawake Entertainment Group and a current lawsuit from Dr. Dre, it might be hard to remember that Death Row Records remains one of the biggest boutique hip-hop labels of all time. For a five year span in the '90s, Dre's solo material and expert production for artists such as Snoop Dogg and 2Pac brought the label to unparalleled prominence. There's still so much unreleased material that never worked its way to a real record or soundtrack that Steady Bloggin has created the biggest archive of non-album Death Row tracks to date. The comprehensive set could easily cover two full CDs and features all the mainstays that you've grown to love over the years.
Check out the forgotten-about 'Gz up, H--- Down' -- a Snoop track that was on the first pressing of 'Doggystyle' and then removed due to copyright and legal concerns. To scope some alternate history, check the West-meets-East posse cut 'Got my Mind Made Up.' Of course, the track appeared on 2Pac's classic 'All Eyez on Me,' but didn't feature the full roster available on the original. Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck drops a verse that was cut from the album version and joins Pac, Method Man, Redman and members of the Dogg Pound.
