Diddy has built himself a solid reputation for throwing lavish parties -- especially his annual celebrity-packed White Party -- but this holiday weekend, his celebrations didn't go according to planned. The entertainment mogul was scheduled to host a July 4th party at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City nightclub, The Pool, but employees at the casino were forced to put an early end to the shindig due to concerns of overcrowding.
1,800 guests were forced to vacate The Pool before Diddy even showed up for the party, and of course, he later took to Twitter to exaggerate the events of the day. "I just shut down Atlantic City!" he wrote "The party was so crazy I couldn't even get in! 10 thousand people showed up ... I was ready to party!"
Harrah's Senior Vice President and General Manager Jay Snowden explained that canceling the party was a precautionary measure to avoid any serious trouble. "Because of the large response on the 4th, we made a proactive decision to postpone the originally scheduled nightlife activities," Snowden said in a statement.
The party was shut down in the wee hours of the morning on Monday (July 5) when an estimated 500 people waiting in line tried to force their way into the club. A separate concert scheduled for Monday afternoon was also canceled and patrons were offered ticket refunds.
