Lupe Fiasco has been added to his hometown's inaugural North Coast Music Festival, taking place over Labor Day weekend at Chicago's Union Park. The three-day event will be heavy on the hip-hip: De La Soul, Nas & Damian Marley and Jay Electronica are among the MCs joining Lupe on the bill. Flying Lotus will morph swagga into booty-shaking beats with his experimental hip-hop-centric electronica -- with the genre further represented by headliners Moby and the Chemical Brothers. Other acts added to the bill today include emerging DFA Records DJ Holy Ghost!, techno-minimalist Claude VonStroke, rockers Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and U.K. neo-jazz act the New Mastersounds. Other previously announced acts include Boys Noize, Pretty Lights, Paul Van Dyke, Mayer Hawthorne & The County, the Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee, Benga and more.
Tickets are a bargain at $75 for a 3-day pass or $35 for each individual day. Discounted 4-pack 3-day passes are also available for $240 -- only $25 more than one 3-day pass to Lollapalooza. To purchase tickets head here. The oddly-eclectic North Coast Music Festival -- hosted by an array of independent promoters "who celebrate the merging of all music and walks of life" -- goes off September 3-5.
