Author Claims Tupac's Murder Was a Federal Operation

In the almost 15 years since the death of rapper Tupac Shakur the slain emcee's demise remains shrouded in conspiracy, including that of author John Potash who believes to hold the answer behind why he was killed. In his new book, 'The FBI War on Tupac Shakur and Black Leaders,' Potash theorizes that Pac's was targeted due to his political affiliations and influence on black culture.

During an interview with All Hip Hop, Potash stated that it was Pac's relationship with several prominent members of the 60s civil rights group, the Black Panthers, and top-selling status that put into motion the plan to assassinate him. "He had very close relationships with his extended Black Panther Party family, who acted as his mentors," Potash told the website. "Not to mention that he was trying to do more positive things."

The fact that Pac's murder has yet to be solved plays further into Potash's beliefs including the theory that Death Row Records was a front used to stifle black activism. "A high level police detective named Russell Poole got himself assigned to the murder investigation of Biggie, during his investigation he stumbled across the fact that Death Row Records employed many officers who were considered agents," Potash said. "Poole also found typical intelligence operations such as trafficking drugs, guns and laundering money taking place at Death Row Records."

"I'm not certain if there were other labels, just because I didn't have the time or resources to investigate other labels. However, I will say that Time Warner, the parent company of Death Row at the time, ended up buying the rest of the labels, so I'm sure their operations could have worked towards other labels as well." Potash also revealed that he is fearful about bringing such claims to light, but that doing so gives him "passion.' In lieu of his book, containing information from his 12-years of research, Pac's mother Afini Shakur has yet to substantiate or deny his claims, a move which Potash said he understands.

Pac was gunned down in September of 1996 after leaving a boxing match in Las Vegas. He was sitting in the car with former Death Row associate, Marion "Suge" Knight, when the vehicle was riddled with bullets. He died six days later from internal bleeding. He was 25.

Haters will always be there to hate, for an insignificant person, sure are a lot of people still trying in follow in his foot steps and measure up to his status in the rap world. FYI, they're still talking about Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and other white deceased celebrities in the years of yesterday, why not Tupac. A young black brother that has some positive messages and pro blackness in his music if you have the intellect to listen and comprehend if. For those of you that don't keep listening to redundent lyrics with good dance beats and keep your insignificant comments where you keep your as##holes, undercover, cause everyone has one, but it doesn't need to be seen. COMPRENDE?

Wow, after reading through these comments it is clear how so many posters are hating on Tupac just because they don't like rap or black people in general. First off, I don't agree with the story that the government is directly responsible for his death, but it wouldn't suprise me if it turns out the government had a hand in it. In a way, you could say government intervention had something to do with his death. It is well known that a man named Jacques Agnant had infiltrated Tupac's inner circle. Jacques Agnant was a government informant. This same man introduced Rupac to the girls that claimed Tupac raped him - a charge that was later reduced to sexual abuse forcibly touching the buttocks as there was zero evidence of rape. I find it hard to believe that this is just coincidence. It is believed that the FBI was trying to ruin Tupac's good image the same way Martin Luther King Jr's image was tarnished by the COINTELPRO program when they were wiretapping him and released their findings that MLK was cheating on his wife to the public. Since Tupac had a big appeal to women with songs like Brenda's Got A Baby and Keep Ya Head Up, it would be easier to ruin him by making him out to be a rapist then risk killing him outright. Had the government informant Jaqcues Agnant not introduced Tupac to this girl that claimed he raped her, Tupac never would have gone to jail for the reduced charged of forcibly touching the buttocks, and Tupac never would have signed with Death Row in his eagerness to get out of jail, but Death Row was the only one willing to pay his million dollar bail. Tupac never wanted to be gang affiliated. Even though he did rap about gang stuff, he was rapping more about the experiences his friends/family encountered, and Tupac himself never wanted to be in a gang. He knew signing with death row could be an issue, and that's why he made the three albums that were part of his contract with death row so quickly, as he didn't want to be associated with a gang affiliated record label. Unfortunately he was Suge Knight's prized jewel and instantly became a target for rival gangs.

I listen to his music all the time, but I must say if you lived in the time when this happened. Then you should know that he was talking alot of Sh*t to alot of people. He was trying to be to hard when he was not.
He made alot of good songs about how life was growing up in the hood. But after he got shot the first time he just started talking to much without thinking that someone would actually kill him.
So I don't think the government killed him. I just think he though he was invincible and someone showed him he was not. By the way, wish they still had the all 2Pac station on AOL Radio

you stupid fucks have no idea what you're talking about. He wasnt a gangsta rapper he was a rapper with views from what he seen on the streets. As camron once said "im the reporter of the ghetto, Im only rapping about things out here that is going on in the streets"...tupac also said "if i keep rapping about how dirty it is out here, maybe someone will clean it up". You guys are just reaching to find ways to be racist and never take the time to read between the lines of music. And if you feel like this man deserve to die. Then the same for your ancestors that were involved in black slavery. Hopefully they are burning in hell for the shit they did to the HUMAN race. You idiots cant look past color and see we all breath eat shit sleep the same. And you're gonna have to answer you're judgments later on when you meet your maker. Stop playing God. If you dont have nothing positive to say then stfu

"Poole also found typical intelligence operations such as trafficking drugs, guns and laundering money taking place at Death Row Records."

Excuse me you moron, but that describes the typical gangbangers that love rap music, not your "typical" government employees.

omg, i can't believe someone allowed this article to even be posted on aol. wtf? i love and miss pac like the rest of them. the government? really? pac's murder was unsolved just like many others because no one was man enough to state the truth. "not snitching" if someone anyone was man enough to tell the truth, his murder would have been solved years ago. his lifestyle and crowd he hung around got him killed, so yes, someone's friend, son, brother, co star was killed by a gun over some bs. so all we have our memories.
