IRS Hits Lil Wayne for $1.3 Million in Back Taxes

Lil Wayne According to reports, the IRS created a special tax unit back in 2007 to investigate athletes and entertainers, and it's cracking down on hip-hop. Wayne is reportedly on the hook for more than $1.13 Million in back taxes from 2004, 2005 and 2007, and in June, the IRS filed a lien against Weezy's charity, One Family Foundation, in Dade County, Florida.

"A few years ago, they concluded that athlete and entertainer taxes might be escaping their radar. So they reinstated a division to only deal with this area," a rep from the global touring and accounting company RZO Productions said. The task force has already allegedly busted Suge Knight, Nas, DMX, Snoop Dogg, Swizz Beatz and Method Man, and its latest target is Lil Wayne. In addition to catching tax fraud and delinquency, the IRS task force is said to be investigating several rappers who have used their charities for capital gain.

This is not the first time the Young Money leader, who is currently incarcerated on a weapons charge, has been in tax trouble. A previous lien was filed against him back in 2008 for almost $1 million back taxes.
