While Jay-Z was the first hip-hop artist to have his own shoe, many have followed in his proverbial footsteps. Now, Nipsey Hussle has partnered with Pony to drop his very own limited edition kicks. The shoes have a blue and gold color scheme -- a straight homage to UCLA and clearly synonymous with Nipsey's hometown of Los Angeles. "Crenshaw" -- the name of the rapper's L.A. neighborhood -- appears on the tongue of each shoe in a design that echoes Hussle's popular hooded sweatshirts.
Traditionally, Pony hasn't been the most popular footwear for the hip-hop community, but they've definitely made in-roads in recent years due to an endorsement from Snoop Dogg. The line formerly made shoes that were worn by alt-metal bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit and Staind.
Hussle will officially premiere the line and perform at a launch party that takes place tonight (July 16) at JET Nightclub in Las Vegas. There's no official word yet on how many pairs will drop and when, but if you're fan, be sure to check the Pony website as more information becomes available.
