Ludacris Receives Humanitarian Award

Ludacris is known for hits such as 'My Chick Bad' and 'How Low,' but his work to help others hasn't been overlooked. The Atlanta native was recently awarded the Humanitarian Award from the non-profit Developing Options, which aims to transform poverty-stricken urban communities for the better, for his work in the Los Angeles community.

Ludacris received the award this past weekend during a star-studded three-day event in Los Angeles. Football legend Jim Brown lead a free youth sports clinic and while Ludacris performanced at L.A.'s Club Nokia for the Developing Options Diabetes Awareness & Healthy Living Celebrity Benefit Concert. "We just raised ALOT of $ for Diabetes tonight," tweeted the rapper. "Thank everyone who came out tonight at Nokia Live in L.A. to support a very worthy cause."

Luda is no stranger to doing charitable work, having launched The Ludacris Foundation back in 2000 to get teenagers involved in creative arts. He has served as a spokesman for Act Against AIDS, filming a public service announcement to spur conversation about the prevention of contracting HIV.

On the music tip, Luda's seventh studio album 'Battle of the Sexes' was released this past March and remains on the charts due to the platinum hits 'My Chick Bad' featuring Nicki Minaj, and 'How Low.'

I like Luda, he was great in Crash and I have liked various songs from his albums over the years. If you don't like his music, that's fine, but to say it's an undeserved award is ridiculous. I am not sure what President Obama did to win the Nobel Peace prize but that's actually beside the point. Ludacris has done many charity events and raised millions of dollars throughout his career. Just because people don't like his music doesn't take away from the good he's done.

I honestly think most of the posters are just running their mouths about shit they will never do in their lives.. how many of you can say you've gone on stage with thousands in attendance and gave the money to charity?? How many of you have enough money in your accounts to just offer a homeless man a damn meal, or helo cover a kids hospital bill?? I have personally seen with my own two eyes rappers who have done this.. so talk shit all you want.. I praise Ludacris and the other musicians who are stepping up and trying to make a difference in this world... what a bunch of ungrateful whiney asses on here.. I swear...

someone who does good but doesn't fit in your Oprah stereotype gets knocked down but you worship a rocker who committs suicide and call him a legend (Kurt Cobain)... theres a fucking role model for your kids...

This guy has done a lot for kids who otherwise would never have gotten the opportunity to do so. He may sing provocatively but who in todays world of singers doesn't... n what about the actors in todays world?? All cheating and playing dirty... so who would u think deserves this award....??? I think Well Done to Luda for being consistant with his charitable work... and keep it up... n keep up the singing too!

Oh goodie, we have another knucklehead trying to make me out to be someone with no compassion. here is some news for you Gail EEEck Cooper. Maybe you should ask yourself that same question before you ask someone else. I have done more this last month helping people out, on top of dealing with a personal loss of my father, who passed away this previous friday. SO, before anymore of you mental midgets try to say something to me in a negative manner, think 2x, because people whop tried to do what you kids are doing now, it has come back and bitten them in their butts.

Seriously? You're going to denounce the good he does because of his music? I guarentee that even though he raps about pimps and hoes, he does a lot more than most people to make a difference in this world. It's so inane to focus on the so-called negative actions of someone, when he really does so much good. It's pathetic, quite frankly.
