Ice-T may have a long history of playing an NYPD Detective on NBC's 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' but the drama became real when he had a run-in with some NYC cops last night. The entertainer, whose real name is Tracy Marrow, was arrested in the city for driving on a suspended license after the 5-0 pulled him over for driving without wearing a seat belt. After discovering that his license had been suspended, the police took Ice-T into custody at the 10th Precinct in Chelsea where he was subsequently processed and released. Ice-T had tweeted that he was getting up early to take his dog to the veterinarian, after which it is assumed that the rapper was taken into custody. "Up early.. @cutespartacus has to get knee surgery today.. It's a simple operation that common for bulldogs. Still sucks. Wish him luck...," he tweeted.
Ice-T, one of the most prestigious rappers in the world, began his career in the mid-'80s, when he first appeared in the film 'Breakin'' in 1984. In '87, the California native released his first album, 'Rhyme Pays,' a gold-certified debut that spawned the hits '6 in the Morning' and 'Somebody Gotta Do It.' His follow-up releases, the platinum-certified 'Power' and gold-certified 'The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say,' tackled controversial issues like drug use and censorship.
His acting career hit its stride in 2000 when he joined the cast of 'Law & Order: SVU' as Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola, a character he has played for the past decade. The 52-year-old can next be heard as a voice actor in the upcoming video game 'Gears of War 3.'
