Soulja Boy Celebrates 20th Birthday, Reveals Strange Gift

Earl Gibson III, FilmMagic

Tons of Soulja Boy Tell 'Em's fans and more than a few of his musical counterparts all came out to celebrate the youngster's birthday in Hollywood, Calif., on Wednesday (July 28). The Atlanta native turned the big 2-0, and came another year closer to the legal drinking age.

Before being engrossed in the night's festivities at The Highlands nightclub, the rapper, dressed in all white, expressed his sentiments. "I just want everybody to have a good time tonight," he told TheBoomBox. Even though most guests failed to bring gifts, Soulja Boy revealed that he bought himself a strange birthday present. "A bulletproof vest," he said, refusing to provide an explanation behind the odd purchase.

The birthday boy also took the stage to perform some of his hits, including 'Pretty Boy Swag,' 'Turn My Swag On,' and his debut single, 'Crank That (Soulja Boy).' Among the night's attendees included Rich Boy, the New Boyz, and Sean "Diddy" Combs' stepson, Quincy.

Aside from partying, Soulja Boy is prepping the release of his third album, 'Dre,' and working on a book and movie. "The title of my book is 'Teenage Millionaire' because I made my first million dollars when I was 17 years old," he explained. "I just go into depth about that so everybody wanna take a read on that, it's gonna drop the same day that my album and movie drop."

All three of his projects are set for release on October 15.

I am a black female and i strongly believe that rap music has contributed to the increase of violence, murders and drugs in our youth. The rap videos all display sexy females, expensive jewelry and cars that the young people can not afford. Rap music sends out a very negative image and message. i wish rap music never came out and we can go back to dancing about love songs and not about dancing to "kill the police". GO TO COLLEGE BLACK PEOPLE!

Want to know why he bought a vest? I'll tell you why. Because rap is making monsters out of our youth. Monsters who think it is okay to form gangs. Okay to shoot into crowds. Okay to do drugs. Okay to subjugate women. That's why. He's smart enough to figure out that his lifestyle is dangerous, and at the same time, dumb enough to continue to make enemies out of his gun toting bros. Duh!!!!!!!
