According to reports, Atlanta rapper T.I.'s club may lose its liquor license.

T.I.'s infamous nightspot Club Crucial is in danger of having its liquor license suspended for 30 days, after a series of violent incidents occurred on club grounds.

In addition to recommending the club's suspension, the alcohol board is requesting that the club be fined an additional $500,000, after six acts of violence occurred on its premises.

The club's fate lies in the hands of Atlanta's Mayor Kasim Reed, who will make the ultimate decision regarding the suspension.

Club Crucial, which is located in the Bankhead section of Atlanta, is famous for launching the careers of artists like B.o.B., who was discovered there in 2006.

Though the club was opened by T.I., ownership has since been passed on to a family friend.

T.I. has yet to comment on the impending decision.

According to the published minutes from the License & Review Board meeting, the recommended fine is $5,000, not $50,000 or $500,000. The higher amounts make the story much more sensational than the correct $5,000, and probably contributed to this story being spread so rapidly on the internet.

Unless your reporters have information that indicates that the public record is inaccurate, perhaps a correction is in order. If your reporter is familiar with similar situations, he or she would have realized $50,000 or $500,000 is way out of line. Just look through past minutes and you will see modest fines of $2,500 to $5,000 for numerous violations for repeated underage sales and other issues.

I am just an interested citizen and owner of a business with a liquor license in Atlanta, so I regularly follow these issues closely.
