Madlib is making a slight departure from his beats for beans ... coffee beans. The Stones Throw record junkie has partnered up with the Los Angeles coffee institution Intelligentsia Coffee for his own blend: Madlib's Espresso Blend. No joke.

The coffeehouse and Quasimoto are celebrating the opening of a new location in Pasadena, Calif. According to the label, Madlib's Espresso Blend is from the Latin American Catuai variety and was grown "near some good trees" and at high elevation. It was roasted on August 4 at Intelligentsia's East L.A. facilities and will remain at peak freshness up until the first week of September.

If you are still puzzled on the odd partnership, the label further charges, the "syrupy, sweet offering ... has kept him awake long enough to average an album-per-day over the past three years." You can purchase a bag for $13.50 via the Stone Throw website.
