The fund's mission is to drive the focus of rehab-goers away from their problems with drugs and alcohol by offering them a music-related alternative. With the donation of DJ equipment, the organization hopes to inspire teens while simultaneously keeping AM's name and passion alive.
"We wanted to find a way to continue Adam's legacy of giving back that would include music as a key component," said a memorial fund rep to TMZ. "Making a donation that includes a DJ station helps Adam's legacy live on."
Though exact donation numbers weren't disclosed, the DJ station is rumored to include computers, turntables and similar equipment AM used during his gigs.
Created shortly after his death -- due to a drug overdose -- the DJ AM Memorial Fund is committed to helping others struggling with addiction. Through media partnerships, the fund garners awareness and support to increase contributions that assist in addressing issues surrounding recovery.
