John Legend, the Roots Play New Song at Miss Universe Pageant

Last night John Legend and the Roots were on hand in Las Vegas to provide background music for the Miss Universe pageant. Not a bad gig, although the Cirque du Soleil's 'Viva Elvis' orchestra got to soundtrack the swimsuit part of the competition. Legend and the legendary Roots crew performed during the ball gown parade, opening with 'Save Room' and segueing into the new single 'Shine' -- off Legend's new Roots-produced album 'Wake Up!,' due September 21. The Miss Universe pageant was hosted Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales. Mexico took home the crown.
