"I've been doing this for a long time," Joe tells The BoomBox. "Biggest thing that ever happened to me with a fan was a dude crying hysterically. I thought it was like a real gay moment or something. I was like, 'My man, hold up for a second.' He was just smacking the floor and crying. We had to calm this dude down. He's like, 'You don't understand.' I go through that all the time."
On a recent trip overseas, a female fan nearly bum-rushed Joey Crack just to touch him. "I was just in St. Tropez and this girl from Sweden just held me, and she was like, 'You just don't understand ... ' God bless, people love me," he says. "I know how she feels."
Fat Joe, who recently released 'The Darkside Vol.1,' shares his fans' sentiments, as wacky as their actions may be. The rapper idolizes hip-hop legends in much the same way his followers look up to him. "When I see KRS-One and LL Cool J, that's how I feel," admits Joe. "I can't grab 'em but I want to lose my cool." Even the King of Pop was someone the Terror Squad honcho admired. "Maybe if I would've met Michael Jackson I would've hugged him and not let him go."
