Akon Sued By Belgian Promoters for Missed Concert

Akon is facing a $250,000 lawsuit after bailing on a performance in Belgium last October.

Lawyers for the Lofraco Belgium promotion agency claim that Akon pulled out of a performance just eight days before show time, citing "scheduling conflicts" for the last minute cancellation. The singer/producer was set to perform along side his Konvict Muzik artists Kardinal Offishall and Colby O' Donis before his unceremonious cancellation.

Lofraco Belgium filed the lawsuit in a New York State Supreme Court, stating that they paid Akon's booking agents $125,000 for the canceled performance, but were never refunded for it. According to TMZ, the lawsuit cites breach of contract, fraud and concealment. Lofraco is seeking $250,000 to cover their expenses, in addition to million-dollar compensations for punitive damages.

In the past three years, the Konvict Muzik CEO has faced a series of lawsuits stemming from assault incidents at his concerts. In September 2009, a concert goer from New Brunswick, Canada brought a suit against Akon after sustaining injuries at the hands of his entourage during a 2007 concert. Hopefully, Akon will have more luck with his lawsuit than Ne-Yo, who was just forced to pay more than $150,000 for skipping out on a New Years' Eve concert and pocketing the cash.
