Under the guidance of music producer at FreeStyle Games, and mixed by world renowned DJs -- Deadmau5, DJ Q-Bert and Tiesto -- fans will have the opportunity to experience the songs in an innovative form.
Aside from the game, 'DJ Hero 2' has launched a Name That Mix contest on its Facebook page. Every week from now until September 20, fans will review "mashup of mashups" video snippets, and will have to figure out which songs were used to make each mix. The company will disburse over 275 prizes weekly, including concert passes of the artists whose songs are featured on the game and DJ equipment. "The individual songs that have been mixed into the 'DJ Hero 2' soundtrack have been viewed online more than 1.5 billion times, which really speaks volumes to both the size and scope of our music," said FreeStyleGames music director, Dan Neil. "Working with some of the best DJs in the world, we were able to take this amazing collection of the biggest pop, hip-hop and dance hits, and with some turntable magic, craft the best soundtrack in entertainment."
'DJ Hero 2' offers players the opportunity to party with a host of new multiplayer modes and battle one another remotely. "If you simply listened to all these songs we've handpicked to include in the game, you would recognize what an amazing soundtrack they would make," said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs at Activision. "But when you hear them after the FreeStyleGames DJs give them the exclusive DJ Hero mix treatment, you understand why we think 'DJ Hero 2' offers an unprecedented music experience."
This the second offering in the DJ Hero gaming series will usher in a new wave of digital disc jockeys. The game will be available in two formats: the turntable bundle which features one turntable controller and a copy of the game or available as a party bundle, which will include two turntables controllers, and a microphone. 'DJ Hero 2' hits stores October 19.
