According to the New York Post, lawyers for Pharrell's Ice Cream clothing are suing the Italian company -- which houses the fashion brands Iceberg and Ice clothing -- for halting a trademark application on his popular street brand. Gilmar Group reportedly blocked the application on claims that the Ice Cream name was too similar to their own brands. Pharrell's lawyers have countered the claims by insisting that the addition of the term "cream" "creates a vastly different sound, appearance, meaning and overall commercial expression," from the Iceberg brand.
Pharrell's Ice Cream clothing line was launched in 2004, along with his Billionaire Boys Club line. According to Forbes magazine, the clothing companies have garnered over $13 million in sales since their launch. In addition to expanding his clothing company, the N.E.R.D frontman has remained busy with his musical projects this year. After writing the score for Universal Pictures' recent animated film 'Despicable Me,' Pharrell is currently completing work on his group's fourth album 'Nothing,' which is set to debut on September 7.
