Mario Arrested for Beating Up His Own Mother

Mario is in hot water. The 24-year-old was arrested this morning in Baltimore for second degree assault. Earlier this week, after flying into a rage, the platinum-selling R&B singer allegedly assaulted his mother Shawntia Hardaway, with whom he shares an apartment.

According to TMZ, police claim that Mario, whose real name is Mario Dewar Bennett, was "throwing and damaging property," which they later discovered to be a broken china cabinet and shattered mirror. Police also state that Mario then pushed Shawntia, a former heroin addict, with his hands and forearms "eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall" where an imprint was made upon impact.

This isn't the first time that Mario, who was released this morning on $50,000 bond, has been involved in a physical altercation. This past July, the singer punched a sound engineer at the 16th Annual Rochester MusicFest after he cut off his microphone and turned the lights on when his set ran too long.

Mario, who most recently appeared as a contestant on Season 6 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' released his fourth album 'D.N.A.' in September 2009. He is currently working on his club-oriented fifth LP.

It turns out that this incident was not true. Shame how so many people on here are willing to believe something without proof and then condemn the person. Hope this never happens to any of you. Mario is a nice guy. Say your sorry.

i knooow...in a way i feel sorry for him....when me and my mama goes to arguing and we both get upset i feel upset because i upset my mama. she's hit me but i never hit her. family fights don't compare to street fights,nobody get you mad like family.

read that one this sounds like tabloids trying to stir up stuff even have a different picture. look don't ever judge what should be happened to who and why,and never compare. This could happen to you tomorrow and everyone will be downing you.

no there's no excuse for hitting a woman but do u know the whole story, we all know an addict somewhere and we know they can push you in a bad way, we was'nt there we don't know what happen, but if he would have turn his back on her and diss own her then what would you be saying about him now he damm if he do and he damm if he don't.

It doesn't matter who does what or did what...who has an anger management problem or whatever...this is his mama and he shoud love her and respect her no matter what...he sings about how much he loves women, too bad his mama ain't one of 'em...

Not everyone is raised in a home where women are respected. And mother or not, some women do not deserve the respect of not just their children but anyone at all. My mother was an addict too. Did it give me the right to put hands on her? No. But I did feel like it at times when you try to help someone so much and they continue to go back to old habits. You never know what that young man was going through in his home and obviously he has poor control over his anger.
Hopefully he gets the help he needs "Psychologically" instead of jail time that would do him no good - if anything worse. Before he becomes a parent himself and continues the cycle of abuse.

It's always back to hit anyone especially your mom . Think about what if and then walk away when things cool off. It's sad to fight with the person who brought you into this world. Move out and love from a distance. Sorry, that thing wasnt'in control an should have never gotten out of hand that law enforcement had to be called in. It's sad when love takes a back seat between family.
