Ice Cube Launching Film Franchise

Ice Cube is making more moves in Hollywood. The 'Lottery Ticket' star has teamed up with his 'Three Kings' director David O. Russell to launch a new film franchise described as 'Dirty Harry' meets 'Death Wish,' with the pair currently in talks with New Line Cinema to get the films on the big screen.

Cube would star as a "plainclothes detective who's quick on the trigger" in the R-rated drama, one that pays homage to '70s revenge films starring Clint Eastwood. Russell is in talks to co-write it while New Line is looking to put someone of their choosing on script duties, and a location is still yet to be determined.

That's not the only project that Cube has in the works. The former N.W.A. member is set to star alongside Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster in "Rampart," playing a hard-working cop looking to expose corruption within the LAPD in the early '90s. Additionally, Cube is doing his thing on the small screen, serving as producer and guest starring on the TBS series "Are We There Yet?"

On the music tip, the West Coast emcee most recently released his ninth album "I Am the West" this past September. The album debuted at No. 22 and sold 22,000 copies in its first week, continuing on to sell upwards of 41,000 units.
