"Dre just walked in, like, 'Soulja!' And I was like, 'Oh, is that Dr. Dre?' And [my boys] were like, 'Why you ain't take your shades off?' I was caught up in the moment, what he was saying, how he appreciate what I do and I'm doing my thang," Soulja explained to MTV. "Just him telling me that, just meant so much. I was in a point of shock, you feel me?"
The Aftermath kingpin is not the only unlikely rap legend in Soulja Boy's corner. G-Unit boss 50 Cent has been a vocal supporter of the 'Crank That' phenom, taking him on tour and recently sharing the cover of XXL Magazine with him. However, Dre's acknowledgment is something very few pop stars can claim. "Dr. Dre is a legend. I've been listening to him since I was in diapers," the excited Atlanta rapper exclaimed. "I know my mama been listening to him. Everybody knows that he did so much for hip-hop and ... you know, I'm lil' Dre!"
Soulja Boy also revealed that his new single 'Speakers Going Hammer' may be featured in the next commercial for Dre's Beats by Dre headphone line. "He was like, 'I like that song. Put that in the commercial," Soulja says. "Soon, maybe you'll see some Soulja Boy/Dr. Dre headphones or something like that." Soulja's third album, 'The DeAndre Way' hit shelves Tuesday.
