Pete Rock Releasing Five Albums in 2011

In a recent interview with the Hip-Hop Chronicle over the pond in London, iconic '90s producer Pete Rock revealed that he plans to release a daunting five albums in 2011. Perhaps he's taking a page out of fellow beat head Madlib's playbook, but it looks like Rock is truly ready to tear into his vaults, give fans a long-awaited record with DJ Premier and reunite with former collaborator C.L. Smooth for another LP.

"I got 5 albums dropping next year," he says in the clip. "Camp Lo, I'm producing. Tek and Steele, I'm producing. Another Pete Rock & CL Smooth album, Pete Rock vs. DJ Premier album and one more."

Rock also touched on how Kanye West incorporated one of his old drum breaks for the huge 'Runaway' beat. What's amazing is how contemporary those drums feel when they were actually prepared by Rock at the beginning of the 1990s.

"The drums are something I chopped up years ago -- 1991 actually," he explained. "We were making the album in November of 1991. I put them on the 'Soul Brother' album. Kanye told me he sampled the drums from that album and then put the music on top of it. When I heard it, I was blown away."
