Texas 'Booking Agent' Sued for Fake Young Jeezy Booking

Chris Pizzello, AP

Yet another lawsuit has been filed against a Texas "booking agent" for allegedly pocketing a booking fee for an artist whom he does not represent.

Three promoters filed suit against Carlos Goodspeed of Top Agent Booking on Monday, Dec. 13, charging that Goodspeed claimed to be Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy's booking agent, and took home a $50,000 advance for the phony booking. According to the suit, which was filed in Harris County, Texas, Goodspeed requested the $50,000 as an advance deposit for the booking, which he set up at a Houston venue back in 2008.

According to the promoters, Goodspeed returned $23,000 when Jeezy did not appear to perform, but kept the remaining $27,000. The Jeezy suit marks the second case in which Goodspeed is charged with booking a phony show. In September, he was sued for falsely booking Drake and Ciara, for which he pocketed close to $50,000.

"It is frustrating for me to hear that many of my fans, who like myself are innocent victims in these scams, have been misled due to the greed of these promoters," Drake said regarding the booking. "I apologize to any fan that has been a victim of these circumstances or feels let down by false advertising."
