"I'll say that the closest we came to that -- but it was more creative s--- -- I think it was a little something with the Fugees back then," he told DJ Whoo Kid. "I heard a rumor, someone called me and said that they started doing some 'Hip-Hop 101' thing at they show and was like, you know, 'If you see anybody else doing this [Hip Hop band] thing, remember you saw it here first,' knowing that it was a lie. But, I guess that was the closest thing."
Despite the near beef, the groups and their individual members have continued to cross paths throughout the years. The two shared the same stage while filming 'Dave Chappelle's Block Party' in 2004, while Lauryn Hill fronted The Roots for a rendition of Bob Marley's 'Is This Love' last month during Michael J. Fox's annual fundraising event, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson.
