Lil Wayne Track 'Rappa Pom Pom' Resurfaces

A fresh version of the Lil Wayne track 'Rappa Pom Pom' surfaced this weekend. The song first leaked in 2007 and features dancehall musician Junior Reid. The updated leak comes by way of Miami-based producer Streetrunner, who first started clocking in studio time with Weezy during the 'Tha Carter III' sessions.

On this mastered version of 'Rappa Pom Pom,' the duo manages to transform the borrowed line from the 'Little Drummer Boy' Christmas carol into a reggae-tinged gun-loving banger. Sirens drown out Weezy's voice at times, which, given the date of the recording, is on the softer side. "Welcome to hell, I let 'em burn/ Mama told me don't play with them choppers, I never learn," Weezy raps. As if writing his own soundtrack, Weezy was arrested for gun possession in 2007, which he served eight months in the slammer for in 2010.

GlobalGrind notes that Weezy's flow has made considerable improvements in the years since this verse was laid down. Wayne's most recent track '6 Foot 7 Foot,' which climbed to the No. 9 spot on the Billboard's Hot 100 in its first week out, sounds grittier. But as the world awaits 'Tha Carter IV,' any new Wayne track is a welcomed one. Stream 'Rappa Pom Pom' after the jump.
