DMX Moved to Mental-Health Unit of Arizona Prison

Michael Loccisano, FilmMagic

DMX returned to prison on Dec. 16 after pleading guilty to violating the terms of his probation, but the Yonkers rapper is now being held in a mental-health unit of Arizona's Alhambra Prison Complex.

DMX -- real name Earl Simmons -- was admitted to the Flamenco Mental Health Unit at the Arizona State Prison on Dec. 20. During his sentencing earlier this month, Judge Christine Mulleneaux told the troubled rapper that she believes he has "an undiagnosed mental condition," which might be bi-polar disorder. DMX was arrested for possession of Oxycontin in November and was suspected to be under the influence of cocaine, in addition to driving on a suspended license. His manager Nakia Walker says that he will be forced to remain in the mental-health unit without visitors, for at least 30 days.

The rapper was served a year long sentence (minus 113 days served) for breaking his probation. This marks DMX's 13th time behind bars, after more than 25 arrests over the past decade. He celebrated his 40th birthday on Dec. 18.

DMX was the love of my life at one time or another. But we all have to maintain. I wish him well.

Loser thug. I'm with Poochmama - Lock him up & toss the key. Stop allowing this criminal to play the system over & over. Enough already!

vixx, I hope you are not trying to compare your childhood and medical issues with someone else. Lets just remember that you have never had the same amount of income he has had in his career. and probably never will.

Of course he's a human being but he is a human being who has made stupid choice after stupid choice and has now skated by on his fame. There are many people who have had terrible childhoods (like Oprah) who have managed to turn their lives around and make lemonade out of the lemons life dealt them. It is possible if you have the desire.

Ohhh BOO HOO HOO...poor DMX & his horrible childhood! Please, I was an abused child & suffer from Bipolar Disorder (diagnosed by a licensed psychiatrist, not a judge by the way) and I sure do NOT use ANY of that as an excuse to be a habitual FELON or as an excuse for ANY other problems that might arise in my life that I don't want to "man up to & deal with". No way do I believe that he's made it to 40 years old WITHOUT realizing for himself or some mental health professionals realizing that his cheese has MAJOR slid the fk off his cracker & rolled all the way to China...if you get what I'm saying.

Seems like they're getting paid out of some guilty conscience thing for all the "suffering" they're having to do in their sorry lives but I say you reap what you sew. Do you think any of them could care less about getting an education? Hell no. Why do that when someone will give them a chance when they play their race card?!

I am sad about most of the comments posted about DMX. He is an intelligent African American male that is not able to deal with his horrible childhood issues in which he continues to use in order to deal with his pain. Perhaps, he did not have the right people in his life to give him a reality check. He is a human being before he was a well-known rapper. Wishing DMX the best and hope that he gets the care, he needs in mental health, in order for him to heal the child within. Negative comments are not as healing and if you look into your own family, every one has a DMX. Keep is positive. Karma is a B……….
