Set in the same format as its popular 'Basketball Wives' and 'Football Wives,' the series will follow the lives of girlfriends and ex-wives of the hip-hop stars as they maneuver through both personal and professional obstacles while trying to make it in the entertainment industry. "The show is about strength and womanhood. I'm excited about the show and the women on it," said Mashonda.
Although Mashonda has yet to reveal whether or not her divorce from Swizz will be brought up in the show, in the past the 30-year-old has been very open about her feelings towards their separation. After their split, Mashonda blasted Swizz for hooking up with Alicia Keys while they were still legally married. She also accused Keys of being a "homewrecker" for being involved with a "married man."
Mashonda and Swizz have since called a truce and are working together to co-parent their son, Kaseem Jr., 4. Swizz, now married to Keys, welcomed the newest edition to his family, baby Egypt, last October. Both he and Keys have expressed happiness over their new bundle of joy, and have been spotted out and about in New York City, where they reside.
Former G-Unit member, Olivia, and model Somaya Reese, ex-wife to rapper Joe Budden, will also star on the show. 'Love & Hip-Hop' is scheduled to air March 21.
