Nas, Damian Marley 'Distant Relatives' Tour Made Into a Film

Last year, Nas and Damian Marley delivered on 'Distant Relatives,' an LP merging hip-hop, reggae and many other strands of roots music with a focus on Africa. After the record's release in May 2010, both musicians embarked on a whirlwind tour -- a journey that is now the focus of a three-part online documentary prepared by a director named B+.

Featuring some stellar behind-the-scenes handheld camerawork, B+ takes viewers along for the ride with rap and reggae royalty as they travel to Jamaica. The clips feature visits to the Bob Marley museum, local markets, Tuff Gong studio for some dubplate recording and a whole lot of smoking of various substances.

Interspersed with music video and studio footage, the documentary's most illuminating parts really come when the duo ventures out into public spaces. The third video in particular provides an indepth look at Trenchtown street scenes where all walks of life converge in one of the more interesting international urban settings. It's telling that Nas tells the camera to "turn around" when it's focused on him. Viewers get a great look at the humanity that inspires both artists and harkens all the way back to when Bob Marley made his home in the area.
