In honor of Black History Month and the five Grammy nominations that 'Wake Up!' received, we're taking a look at the track-by-track breakdown of John Legend and the Roots' collaborative project. In the following video, Legend and Roots drummer Questlove, who produced 'Wake Up!,' talk about covering Nina Simone's 'I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free.' While Quest and Legend chose the track as suitable "ending credit music," we've picked this video as a perfect way to kick off Black History Month.
Right around the time of 'Wake Up!''s release, John Legend and the Roots hit up AOL's Manhattan studio for a jam session. Check out their performances of several songs off the album below.
