Legend, along with the Roots, snagged three of the five nominations they received for their collaborative effort 'Wake Up!' Although the Ohio native was visibly happy about taking home the Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album trophies, he admitted that he would've liked to take the stage. "We made this album because we love this music, soul music, music with a message. It's very cool to get recognized by the academy for it. I never take that for granted," he continued. "I was hoping John Legend and the Roots would be collaborating on stage but not so much this year."
This most recent win marks the ninth for the singer, including the coveted Best New Artist award which he won back in 2006.
