Prince Owes Lawyers $700,000 in Legal Fees

A New York City law firm is raining on the Purple One's parade. Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler has filed a $700,000 suit against Prince in legal fees for cases in California, New York and Ireland. Additionally, the firm alleges that while he has paid $125,000 so far, he still owes the firm a substantial sum in legal fees for helping to settle financial discrepancies with his ex-wife.

The suit claims that Prince, whose real name is Prince Rogers Nelson, has balked on payments despite several requests. "Nonetheless, the Nelson Parties have failed to pay an additional $708,687.04 due to PBWT," the suit asserts. "PBWT has repeatedly but unsuccessfully requested payment from the Nelson Parties."

The law firm has previously represented him in high profile cases, including a suit filed by a perfume company against Prince after he failed to promote his scent '3121.' They also helped settle suits over canceled concerts and represented Prince when NBA player Carlos Boozer sued him for redecorating the Hollywood abode Prince was renting from him for $70,000 a month.

Prince most recently wrapped up the East Coast leg of his 'Welcome 2 America' tour, which included several gigs at New York City's Madison Square Garden as well as East Rutherford, New Jersey's Izod Center.

A little news from the "Where Are they now?" file. And the answer is, "Who cares?". Lot of people say he's known as a cheapskate who dosent pay his bills. Probably dosent have any money left...his 15 minutes of fame were done about 20 years ago. Heck, I thought he was living under a bridge somewhere. Should be, anyway

at $100 an hour that would be over 8000 hours of work, or 4 years of full time employment for the lawyers. How much do these guys make?

Being a cheapskate and cheating people is not confined to any ethnicity or color. One has to wonder why Prince has chosen such a mean way of dealing with people. The price that these type of folks pay is to lose supporters, friends, and most of all positive regard by others, particularly when the news hits the streets. All his cheating of others will come back to haunt him and on that day, he will FINALLY realize that his actions have caused him more grief than paying his bills and being fair with others would have caused him. A lesson to all cheaters and cheapskates, don't be like this man and the poor example he sets for others.

They're attorneys, to say they crawled out from under a rock would put them on an evolutionary level they won't achieve for several million more years. I wouldn't pay the scum sucking bottom dwellers either, as usually the pay to work done ratio is waaaaaaaaay off. He's probably paid them fairly to date.
