The 16-time Grammy Award winner has re-written and re-recorded an unnamed song for the 'Let's Move! Flash Workout' video, which will be distributed to junior high schools across the country, in partnership with the National Middle School Association and the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation. Participating schools will join across the country to perform Beyonce's pre-choreographed 'Let's Move!' dance routine on Tuesday, May 3 at 1:42PM EST/10:42AM PST.
"I am excited to become part of this effort that addresses a public health crisis," Beyonce said in a statement. "First Lady Michelle Obama deserves credit for tackling this issue directly, and I applaud the NAB Education Foundation for trying to make a positive difference in the lives of our schoolchildren."
The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education, diversity and community service efforts within the broadcasting industry.
"NABEF is proud to assist the First Lady's 'Let's Move!' campaign and supports efforts to address the epidemic of childhood obesity," explained NABEF President Marcellus Alexander. "We can think of no greater gift to America than keeping our school children healthy and giving youngsters a greater appreciation for the importance of an active lifestyle."
In June 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha attended a Beyonce concert in Washington D.C, where the singer dedicated 'Single Ladies' to the Obama girls. Beyonce later joined the First Family at the White House in May 2010, where she performed at President Obama's White House State Dinner.
