The 36-year-old, whose real name is Albert Johnson, revealed that he's in good spirits. "Incredible. It feels incredible. I'm just happy to be back, get back to work on music and everything," he said, explaining how he used his pen to keep busy while incarcerated. "I was writing a lot of blogs and putting it out there on the websites, on the streets ... I was writing a lot of lyrics of course for songs, and I tried my hand at some poetry. Just different writing type stuff."
He continued by explaining how he's grown tired of how similar rappers and trends have become. "At this point in my life, I just see a lot of the people -- especially in the music industry -- everybody's just doing the same thing. Nobody's unique. Everybody copies off of each other. Everybody wears the same type of stuff. Nobody's an individual anymore," he said.
But he did praise Kanye West for pushing rap's creativity. "I can't front, I like Kanye. I like what Kanye's doing right now," he said. "There's a lot of new talent, yeah, but Kanye's the man right now. I just love his creativity, that's what I'm talking about as far as being unique and creative and different. Kanye is doing it."
