After only six weeks in theaters, 'Justin Bieber: Never Say Never' has reportedly raked in $72.2 million in domestic box office sales, besting the King of Pop's record-breaking $72.1 million. However, Michael Jackson's worldwide following remains more stalwart, amassing a total of $261.2 million worldwide, a number Justin Bieber is not likely to surpass, with sales of only $10.8 million overseas thus far. It appears that Bieber fever, and music films in general, do not fare as well abroad, where Miley Cyrus' and the Jonas Brothers' films combined don't even meet Bieber's sales.
Nevertheless, Bieber's concert doc is still the third highest grossing documentary of all time in domestic box office sales, closely behind 'March of the Penguins' and Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11,' which took in $119.1 million at the box office.
Both child sensations, Bieber's career is beginning to mirror MJ's more and more, as he already has a wax figure of himself standing in Madame Tussauds in London, and a rabid following of young fans.
