The appearance in the South Asian country marks the second time Akon has been to India since 2007. "I can't wait for my fans to join me where I'll be performing all of your favorites and some new songs from my upcoming album, 'Stadium.' It's also my birthday so I have something very special planned for all my fans so you know it's going to be one big party," he said in a statement.
While it appears that his performances in India will go off without a hitch, in the past the Konvict Muzik head hasn't been so lucky overseas. Last year, Akon, was met with violent protests in neighboring Sri Lanka. Citizens in the country were in an uproar over the hitmaker's provocative dance moves alongside a statue of Buddha in the video 'Sexy Chick.' Akon was denied a visa into the country, and the performance was postponed indefinitely.
Akon is scheduled to hit Gurgaon, India on his birthday, April 16, and Bengaluru April 17.
The versatile music mogul is also busy crafting his fourth studio album, 'Stadium.' The David Guetta-produced single 'Angel' was released last year. The forthcoming effort is scheduled to hit shelves later this year.
