Now in its 25th year, the JazzReggae Festival is looking to make this year's event its biggest celebration to date. The three-day concert will be held at the UCLA Intramural Field and will welcome Fiasco on Jam Day, held Sunday, May 29, and Sean Paul on Monday, May 30, for Reggae Day. The event is entirely run by the student body, with a staff of 30 UCLA undergraduates putting together the programme.
Lupe last played the festival in 2007, when he was plugging his second studio album 'The Cool.' Powered by a signature rap style, the Chicago native is expected to "intensify the fervor" of the festival's 25th year with his appearance.
Tickets for the JazzReggae Festival go on sale April 1, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or the UCLA Central Ticket Office. Single day tickets go for $29, while two-day passes are $50. For more information visit JazzReggaeFest.com.
After much anticipation and delay, Fiasco dropped his third album 'Lasers' earlier this month. Although it received mixed reviews from critics, fan reception of the project pushed it to debut atop the Billboard album charts with 240,000 units sold.
The year is shaping up to be a busy time for the 29-year-old, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco. As previously reported, Fiasco has embarked on a 16-city tour kicking off March 27 at the DUB Car Show in Los Angeles and wrapping up at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine on May 11.
