The 44-year-old, who dropped his eleventh album, 'Love Letter,' last year, has kept his career afloat despite child molestation charges, of which he has since been acquitted of, and a divorce from his longtime wife, reportedly due to the scandal.
"I'm writing this book as Robert, not R. Kelly," Kelly explained in a previous statement. "I will open my heart and reveal the good in my life as well as all the drama. I want to tell it like it is."
'Soulacoaster' has been described as not only a memoir but a "keepsake," which will promise to take fans on an "unforgettable intimate ride."
As previously reported, the book is co-written by celebrity author David Ritz and will be published by journalist Tavis Smiley's company, SmileyBooks. "We are thrilled to be the conduit through which R. Kelly will tell his own story," Smiley said in a statement last year. "He has earned the right to tell his story his own way."
Kelly remains one of R&B music's most accomplished entertainers, working as both a singer and songwriter. His most recent hit comes by way of Jennifer Hudson for whom he penned her current single 'Where You At.' The single peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B charts and propelled Hudson's sophomore release, 'I Remember Me,' to the No. 2 spot on the Billboard album charts selling 165,000 copies in its first week.
