Mariah Carey Spends $100,000 on Baby Nursery

Mariah Carey is sparing no expense when it comes to the nursery for her soon-to-be-born twins.

In a new interview with Life & Style magazine, the songbird showed off her elaborate nursery, which cost a whopping $100,000. Decked out in soft unisex colors, Carey and her husband Nick Cannon infused their personal style within the room, located at their Bel-Air, Calif. mansion, but also dropped a pretty penny on specific items, like a $30,000 crib. "I wanted to create a beautiful, tranquil, cozy environment for the babies," Carey explained. "Everything matches, but pieces are individualized to celebrate the twins as separate entities."

The twosome split their time between New York to Los Angeles, but Cannon notes that being on either coast is important for his many jobs, which includes several hosting gigs on both radio and television. "I prefer the East Coast schooling over the West Coast," he said. "But there are other things that come into play, like work." Cannon and Carey have also built a nursery in their New York City apartment, which they also showcased in the magazine.

Since announcing her pregnancy last year, Carey has been letting the public in on every step of her pregnancy. "Being a mother is probably the hardest job in the world. I feel like, in a lot of ways, children come into the world to teach us," she continued. "It's going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded. One thing I'm sure of is that I'll be grateful for the twins every day, no matter what."

Earlier this month she released posed for two nude photo shoots, one for Life & Style and the other for OK! magazine. The 41-year-old is due to give birth any day now.

Hey, she ain't having anymore after this, so she should be able to spend whatever the heck she wants to. I am surprised she didn't spend more actually. She definitely has the money in the bank. I love Mariah's voice and music. My only complaint is she needs a new stylist. A bathing suit is not a costume to where for a concert.

How much have YOU donated? Why is it that because someone has amassed $$$ that equates to selfish? None of us knows what her philathropic practices are...

All you haters--get up off your judgmental arses and go sell over a million recordings--then YOU can decide how much is too much. Green does not become you...

Rich people! Go figure! Well I guess if I had millions I would go all out as well. But when I see hungry children everyday in life, I think Mariah could have said to herself...I can spend 40,000 and give $60,000 to hungry kids and families. Who know's maybe she donates money anyway! We will never know. But 100,000 is excessive!

Again! It is their money and it is none of anyones
business if they NEED IT or just WANT IT. She can do what she wants. Enjoy your babies and ignore stupid people who are just jealous.

She could have spent $1000 on great crib and spent the other $29,000 giving cribs to babies who don't have one.

$100,k on a baby nursery is just obscene and wasteful. That's why we need the Fairtax in this nation, so that the more you consume the more you pay so the whole nation will benefit when people feel like being so indulgent. She thinks being a mother is the hardest jos? she's not even a mom yet, she ain't seen nothing yet. what a joke. I'd say shes' going to be sleep deprived, emotionally exhausted everyday but then she'll probably let the nanny do all that.

How do you know how much money she has in the bank and what she can afford? When you earn $100,000 you can spend that $100,000 however you want. Stop being jealous. What do you think she should do? Go to the Goodwill to show how humble she is?

It's NOT about wanting - its about needing and in this case, she's went over board. It's now about if you have that kind of money, its the idiotic way of spending it. NO kid needs a $30K baby bed to sleep in. If she had spent $25K for the painting, decorating, and furniture, it would have been more appropriate, especially since our economy is still trying to find its way out of a recession. That is why people loose their cars, homes, jobs, etc. They don't live within their means or below their means and every thing they get a raise, they blow it on toys with all the bells and whistles, instead of paying off credit cards, or paying on their mortgage.
