Cash Money Records' newly-founded publishing arm, Cash Money Content, has announced that it will re-release Iceberg Slim's groundbreaking 1969 novel 'Pimp: The Story of My Life' on May 10.

The revolutionary reality crime novel was recently acquired by Cash Money, along with the rest of the pimp-author's literary catalog, which includes seven novels in total, all of which will be re-released.

Though it was initially met with mixed reviews, Slim's autobiographical novel 'Pimp' went on to sell 2.5 million copies, making Slim one of the best-selling black writers of his time. The book chronicles many of Slim's underworld experiences working as a Chicago-area pimp in the 1940s and '50s.

Originally published by Holloway House in 1969, after Slim gave up the criminal trade for writing, 'Pimp' has since been translated into seven languages, and its author has been listed as an influence by many pillars of the hip-hop community, from Ice-T to Jay-Z, and entertainers like Dave Chappelle.

Cash Money Content is published by Simon & Schuster's Atria Books imprint, and has released 'Raw Law' by Muhammad Ibn Bashir, a legal advice handbook for the hip-hop generation, and 'Justify My Thug' by Wahida Clark.

"We think we can do more, market books in a new way," Bryan "Birdman" Williams told the Wall Street Journal, regarding Cash Money's publishing plans. "We want to put out five or six books a year."

'Pimp: The Story of My Life' will be re-released on May 10.
