Today (May 20), the rap collective took to their Twitter page to ask Wu supporters to take a look at several designs in the running to be on the cover of producer Tom Caruana's 'Wu-Tang vs. Jimi Hendrix' album. "Peace, which cover do you like best: http://tinyurl.com/3fzdug7," the Clan tweeted.
Caruana, known for his remix capabilities, is taking the psychedelic musical stylings of Jimi Hendrix and pairing them with the gritty raps of Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Raekwon, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, GZA, Masta Killa and U-God on the new effort. A look at the artwork of each submitted album cover -- 13 in total -- shows a fusion of the vastly different artists. One cover pictures Hendrix holding a marijuana joint and the smoke blown from his lips forms the signature Wu-Tang Clan "W," while another has Hendrix front and center while each member of the Clan surround him in a kaleidoscope of colors.
Caruana released 'Wu-Tang vs. The Beatles - Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers' in June 2010, but, as stated on Tea Sea Records' website, the company he's signed with, "the album was downloaded over 50,000 times before having to be removed for legal reasons."
The winning artwork will have their design as the new cover for 'Tom Curuana Presents Wu-Tang vs. Jimi Hendrix album,' which has no release date as of yet.
