The Clipse's Malice to Change Name to Less 'Evil Intent'

After experiencing a spiritual transformation and becoming born again, Malice of Virginia "coke rap" outfit the Clipse has announced that he will be changing his MC name.

No longer identifying with his malicious moniker, Malice revealed in a recent interview that he will be attempting to "clean up a bit" by using a new name to represent the change in his persona.

"I'm not a malicious person, and I don't really like answering to that," the elder Thornton brother told Ruby Hornet TV. "I know that people that follow the Clipse or follow my music, they know Malice, so I understand that, I get that, but you don't want to be under any moniker that's of evil intent, that's not you. I come to more belief that there's so much power in the tongue. The power of the tongue is life and death, so I believe if you are what you fall under whether it's in your subconscious or not. It's just me trying to clean up a little bit. But I haven't thought of that name yet. So Malicious is what it is right now."

While his brother Pusha T prepares his solo debut with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, Malice is concentrating on his recently published autobiography, 'Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind and Naked,' which details his religious transformation, explaining that he is no longer in the same frame of mind he was in when he recorded the majority of his music.

"When I went through my experience, I wasn't thinking about music," he continued, explaining that he is proud of his musical achievements, but does not plan to continue glorifying cocaine sales. "The Clipse catalog, it's a great catalog of music. We were right there with the Neptunes at the height of the whole Star Trak thing in the Clipse, so I'm definitely proud of it. And I'm even more so proud of it because it has presented me with this platform here. If I had not have had the first platform, I wouldn't have this platform, so they all play a part with each other.

"It's about evolving, it's about growing and nothing stays the same. I would be very much ashamed if I come to you next year the same place I was three years ago. I'm seeing the big picture, and a lot of times we think we're writing the script, but really, we're not."

Malice's book 'Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind and Naked,' is in stores now. Pusha's currently working on a solo album, which has no release date as of yet, but he will put out his 'Fear Of God 2' mixtape on June 21.

I'm truly embarrassed for the people who are responding to this story in such negative ways.
Denigrating a form of music as "not music" because you don't personally like it only speaks to your ignorance rather than the validity of the music.

here is a definition
a : the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity b : vocal, instrumental, or mechanical sounds having rhythm, melody, or harmony

Sounds like music to me.

Being cynical regarding his rebirth? Well none of us can possibly know how serious he is about it. I suspect that he probably is since Malice is more in keeping with rap than moniker he is going by now.
Just seems sad to me that people are so willing to attack others. Especially in so base a manner.

Lastly, the racist comments? What you display is not how inferior black people are to you but rather how inferior you feel to others.
Truly sad.

Years ago, there was a mother in Detroit who actually named her son Malice and had no problem with the name.

excuse the typo , my apology , when I had written " they" it was not toward a certain race , it was to all races , so I just wanted to clear that up !!
Like I said , give someone a break if he or she deserves it . Not for sympathy , and suck money out of your pockets for their career .

A person could always use a break, that is if it's sincere , his change is bulls**t , Then they turn to Our Savior Lord and Christ ,oh praise the lord , lol how many friggan times do they use that phrase , nothing but another PHONEY person trying to get sympathy , to get more money from suckers who believe him . He's laughing to the bank. Or to the Jeweler for gold teeth .Hey , who is he anyway ????
Wake up people! Allahluia<--- don't care if it's spelled wrong, you know what I mean

Hey ~ give a person a break!! Here is someone who wants to change things in his life, come from a "better feeling" place, and he gets critized for it. Mike Tyson was featured on CBS's Sunday Morning program yesterday and the story on him was, he has done the same thing! There weren't too many people in his past who would have given a nickel for him before. Its actually more frightening to read the malice in the comments below, condemming someone for wanting a more positive image and life, than the story itself. Few people make this change, have the courage and strength to do it, or go thru the hard work. Come on, support the guy and give him credit. It isn't about how things start out, its about how thing end up and finish. Maybe there is a message for you in there as well.
