Brown has been named as the latest performer at this year's ceremony, and has also received six nominations. While the Virginia native has not announced which song he will perform, his latest album, 'F.A.M.E.' garnered him three hit singles, including the Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes-assisted 'Look at Me Now,' which has sold over 2 million copies alone. As of this month, 'F.A.M.E.' has sold over 580,000 copies stateside.
The 22-year-old's rousing rendition of Jackson's hits during last year's ceremony has been credited with re-establishing his positive public persona, which took a hit after his assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Since the incident Brown has not only fulfilled his legal obligations but worked to keep the focus off his personal life and back onto his music.
Brown will join Jill Scott, and Alicia Keys who have also been tapped for performances, while singer Patti LaBelle will also be honored with a lifetime achievement award at this year's ceremony. The 2011 BET Awards will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart and will air live on the network June 26 at 8PM EST.
