Though labels liked her voice, Gabrielle did not yet write her own songs, which proved to be a major stumbling block. As a result, she began to work with songwriter Michael Warren, who had previously penned songs for Sean Kingston and Toni Braxton, and released her first demo, 'Why's It So Hard,' in 2010.
Gabrielle then linked with fellow up-and-comer Joveek Murphy, a producer-songwriter based in Amsterdam, Holland, once again packing up her bags and flying halfway across the world to record 'Back Up,' her official first single, which hit iTunes today (June 14).
'Back Up' is an upbeat dance number aimed straight for the clubs, showcasing a different side of the East Lansing girl, who repeatedly sings "Back up, up off me/ So just get out my face!"
However, Gabrielle still has modest dreams. "I'd like to make a few albums before I turn 30," Gabrielle says in her EPK. "I kinda hope that one day I'll be able to go on tour, so I can actually meet all of [my fans]. That would be great."
