Justin Timberlake Shoots Down Jay-Z Collaboration

Jay-Z sits at the top of many artist's dream collaborations list, however, he no longer rides high on Justin Timberlake's.

In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, the 30-year-old crooner revealed that he contacted the Brooklyn rapper as he was crafting tracks for his 2006 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' album. The Tennessee native was interested in collaborating with Hov on a possible duet, but the 'Big Pimpin'' rhymer turned down Timberlake, citing a busy schedule as the reason for the dismissal and promising to join him on a forthcoming project.

The Timbaland-produced 'SexyBack' creator wasn't going to wait on hip-hop's leading rap vet though. "Jay-Z has put out 11 albums, and I was talking about doing a collaboration with him, and he said, 'I can't do it right now, but I'll get you on the next album,'" he revealed. "I was like, 'No, man, I don't work like that. This sounded good to me for you and me to do together, and if it doesn't work, then I totally get it, but I won't be putting an album out next year; these aren't a dime a dozen to me.'"

Timberlake is focusing his talents on acting currently, putting his music career on the backburner. He stars in the comedy flick 'Bad Teacher,' alongside former flame Cameron Diaz.

No 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' follow-up is in the works and the singer has admitted that he has no new songs written.
