Teena Marie's Daughter Visits Therapist for Mom's Death

It's been six months since the death of singer Teena Marie, and no one has felt the effects of her passing like her daughter, Alia Rose. It was Rose who discovered her mother unconscious in her Pasadena, Calif. home last December and called 911.

"I've been coping," Rose tells the BoomBox. "I have a therapist. I love God, I talk to him and I talk to my mom. It gets harder ... You only miss them more, but you have to just know that they're there. You have to know that there's a reason for everything."

Following in her mother's famous footsteps, Rose -- who goes by the moniker Rose LeBeau -- is an aspiring singer currently working on an untitled debut album. Without Teena Marie by her side, she has taken the lessons learned from growing up within the spotlight to help navigate her way through the entertainment industry.

"[I've learned] don't sign anything [without looking it over]," Rose shares. "That's the No. 1 thing my mom used to say, and keep your publishing. I've been doing music for a long time, almost 15 years. I'm working on my project with my producers Nick Rose and Anthony Vasquez, they're amazing."

Marie died in her sleep on Dec. 26, 2010. Autopsy reports concluded that the '70s singer, known as the "Ivory Queen of Soul," succumbed to natural causes and may have suffered a grand mal seizure while taking a nap.

Teena definitely has not been dead a year. I 'reporter' even stated the date she died and still didn't catch the error. He also called Teena "70's singer" when the majority of her hits and album releases were in the 80's. I wish people who didn't know her or her music wouldn't write about her. It's disrespectful to her memory/LEGACY!

Glad to see the article, and that Teena Marie's daughter is coping, but what gives? Teena Marie hasn't been dead a year. In order to honor Teena and her daughter, please correct the errors in this story.
